Matthew is passionate about wildlife conservation and believes GIS is an important tool that helps conservation efforts succeed.  Matthew received his undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University in Wildlife Conservation Biology/ Applied Vertebrate Ecology with a Minor in GIS.  Matthew worked as a seasonal biologist for a variety of agencies and organizations for several years after graduating.  He worked with endangered and threatened species throughout the Western United States, including the Humboldt Martin, Pacific Fisher, Grey Wolf, Spotted Owl, Mountain Plover, and many more.  Matthew received his Masters from Pennsylvania State University in Spatial Data Science.  Here, he focused on Geostaitical Analysis, Remote Sensing, and UAVs.  Matthew also started working as a GIS contractor for AllPoints GIS during this time.  He quickly rose to manage their GIS projects, conducted GIS analysis, and became their lead instructor.  Matthew’s responsibilities included facilitating project management and collaboration with clients, managing all their employees, and performing multiple geospatial analyses, including image analysis with raster data, object-based classification, managing complex geodatabases, and spatial and statistical analysis with ArcPro and R. He has also created and still maintains custom geoprocessing tools with Model Builder and Python, as well as customized interactive web applications for clients.  Matthew has worked with animal movement models such as Circuitscape and developed conservation priority analysis for clients.  Additionally, Matthew has continued to build his expertise in developing curricula and teaching GIS courses to various clients.  He is well-versed in all changes and updates within ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey 123 and is considered an expert in these programs.
